Campaign Objective:

The competition aims to promote the natural environment, biodiversity, historical architecture and village culture of remote countryside areas in Hong Kong. It also encourages general public to develop a sense of responsibility towards countryside conservation, and to raise their environmental awareness through unleashing their creativity in photography and video production, showing our precious assets in the countryside where the nature, architectural environment and cultural heritage require our care.

Photo Section & Eligibility*:

Primary School Category: Holder of a valid primary school student card in Hong Kong
Secondary School Category: Holder of a valid secondary school student card in Hong Kong
Open Category: Holder of a valid Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card


Short Video Section & Eligibility*#:

Primary School Category: Holder of a valid primary school student card in Hong Kong
Secondary School Category: Holder of a valid secondary school student card in Hong Kong
Open Category: Holder of a valid Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card


* Contestants can be enrolled as individuals in both Photo and Short Video Section. He or she should enrol for either Primary School Category, Secondary School Category or Open Category only.

# Contestants can be enrolled as a team of no more than 5 people in Short Video Section. Each Contestant can be enrolled as an individual and a team at the same time.

Entries Submission:

  • Upload your entry to the campaign website (BackToOurCountryside.hk), fill in and submit the online enrolment form to complete the enrolment. If you are enrolled as a team in Short Video Section, please fill in all the required information and appoint a team representative when filling in the online enrolment form. Online enrolment form includes Personal data, Entry, Entry Title and description of the creative concept written in not more than 100 words in either Chinese or English.
  • Contestants need to upload the video(s) to YouTube as “unlisted” and submit a valid YouTube link during online enrolment on the campaign website (BackToOurCountryside.hk).
  • Online enrolment form includes Personal data, Entry, Entry Title and description of the creative concept written in not more than 100 words in either Chinese or English.
  • For winning entries, the Contestant must submit the original file for publicity purposes by the organiser.
  • Please complete the form in either Chinese or English.
  • Contestants will receive an email confirmation upon completion of the online enrolment form.
  • To receive the latest update, Contestants are encouraged to like ‘Countryside Conservation HK’ Facebook page and follow ‘countrysideconservationhk’ Instagram account.


Judging Criteria:

  • Content Relevance (40%): Showcase the uniqueness of remote countryside areas in Hong Kong, or record special countryside stories and moments.
  • Overall Beauty (40%): Attract viewers by clearly displaying and capturing the remote countryside areas in Hong Kong.
  • Creativity (20%): Creative concept and originality, aesthetic appeal and visual effects.
  • Results of Public’s Best Choice will be announced in August on the campaign website (BackToOurCountryside.hk).

Result Announcement:

Results will be announced in August 2022 on the campaign website (BackToOurCountryside.hk). Winners will be notified by letter and invited to attend the Award Presentation Ceremony.

Entry Guidelines:

  1. Entries must be original photos or videos taken by the Contestants. Both photo and video entries are recommended to be taken in remote countryside areas in Hong Kong. Remote countryside areas in Hong Kong includes but not limited to: List of Priority Suites for Enhanced Conservation (Ramsar Site, Sha Lo Tung, Tai Ho, Fung Yuen. Luk Keng Marsh, Mui Tsz Lam and Mau Ping, Wu Kau Tang, Long Valley and Ho Sheung Heung, Deep Bay Wetland outside Ramsar Site, Cheung Sheung, Yung Shue O and Sham Chung.) Country Park Enclaves or private land and where public transportation (includes railways, buses, minibuses, ferries (“kaitos” excluded) and tram) is not accessible within 500m walking distance of the site (e.g Lai Chi Wo, So Lo Pun, Mui Tsz Lam, Sam A, Ngau Shi Wu, Kop Tong, Siu Tan, Fung Hang and Chek Kang)
  2. All photo or video entries must be taken within the past two years. (From 11 July 2020 to 20 July 2022).
  3. The format of each photo must be a JPEG or TIFF digital file, each photo with 1920 x 1080 pixels or more is recommended and not exceeding 3MB in size. The format of each video must be a MPEG, WMV, MOV, MP4, AVI or H.264 digital file, each video with 1920 x 1080 pixels or more is recommended and duration not less than 30 seconds but no longer than 1 minute.
  4. Entries must be submitted with a title and caption with no more than 100 words of creative concept in Chinese or English.
  5. Contestants of Primary School Category and Secondary School Category must fill in the school name, otherwise they will be enrolled in the Open Category.
  6. Entries must be original work of the Contestant. Apart from minor adjustments such as brightness, contrast, sharpening and cropping, No manipulation is allowed, for example, synthetic modification or colour-change by computer post-processing.
  7. Watermarks are not acceptable.


Terms and Conditions:

On submitting an entry form and/or Contestant’s parent or guardian consent letter for Back To Our Countryside Photo and Short Video Competition 2022 (“the Competition”), the Contestant and/or their parents or legal guardians are deemed to have read, accepted and agreed to abide by the relevant rules of the Competition, including the Terms and Conditions, Image Upload Arrangement, Image File Requirements, Enrolment Procedures and any other rules and terms which the Service Provider shall announce within the competition period (collectively as “Regulations”).

  1. Each contestant may only submit one enrolment form at one time, the latest form shall prevail if more than one enrolment form is received.
  2. Each Contestant can be enrolled in Photo Section as individuals with the maximum of 3 entries. No more than one award will be granted for the Photo Section.
  3. Each Contestant can be enrolled in Short Video Section as individuals or teams with the maximum of 3 entries. No more than one award will be granted for the Short Video Section.
  4. Neither amendment nor resubmission of entries is allowed once submitted. The entries will not be returned either.
  5. Consent should be given by the Parent/Guardian of the Contestants aged below 18.
  6. Employees of the Organiser, Service Provider and supporting organisations, judges, and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate in the Competition.
  7. Contestants must not cause damage to the natural environment or disturb visitors, villagers or wildlife. Or else their entries will be disqualified.


Copyright of Entries:

  1. Contestants declare and warrant that the Entry are his/her/its team member’s original work. Contestants warrant and guarantee that they and their team members had not, have not and/or will not give the above license to any third party.
  2. By submitting an Entry in the Competition, Contestants have given and shall procure their members to give an irrevocable perpetual non-exclusive license to the Organiser and the Service Provider to use, edit, modify, reproduce, publish and/or disseminate the submitted Entry for any purposes, including but not limited to advertising and educational purposes by any means that the Organiser and the Service Provider thinks fit, without prior notice or consent to the Contestants.
  3. Contestants warrant and guarantee that they are the sole owner of all copyrights of the Entry and to the best of their knowledge that no complaint or claim shall be arisen from any third party in respect of such Entry.
  4. Contestants declare the Entry does not:
    • infringe or violate, or involving elements that infringe or violate applicable law and regulations, including but not limited to crimes, violence, obscenity, indecency, libel, defamation, privacy invasion, or threatening;
    • infringe or violate any intellectual property rights, including but not limited to copyrights, patent, trademarks, trade names, trade secrets or other proprietary rights, held by any third party, regardless whether such rights are known to the Contestants;
    • contain any confidential information of any third party;
    • contain an individual or group of persons, who does not give consent to take such pictures;
    • contain viruses, corrupted files, or other materials that may cause damage to another's computer; or
    • advertise or otherwise solicits funds or sales of goods or services.
  5. If an Entry submitted by the Contestant infringes or violates any third party’s rights, including but not limited to intellectual property rights, and/or any legislation, law or regulation, the Organiser and the Service Provider will not be responsible for any consequences.
  6. When the Organiser and the Service Provider suffer from any claim or investigations conducted by any competent authorities, by reason of any right allegedly subsist in the Entry or infringement of the same, Contestant agrees to hold the Organiser and the Service Provider harmless and to indemnify the Organiser and the Service Provider in full for any direct or indirect loss and damage, economic loss, loss of reputation and/or any consequential loss and damage or otherwise, together with any expenses, costs and further loss and damage suffered and incurred by the Organiser and the Service Provider as a result of such claims and investigations.


Personal Data

  1. The personal data provided and collected will be used by the Organiser and the Service Provider for one or more of the following purposes: For creation, processing and maintenance of the Contestants’ enrolment records, the administration and monitoring of the Competition, publication, printing, exhibition, display, promotion, issue or other purposes as the Organiser and the Service Provider deem appropriate in connection with the Entry submitted by the Contestant for the Competition.
  2. Contestants have the right to request access to and correction of your personal data under sections 18 and 22 and principle 6, schedule 1 of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap.486).


Disqualification:

The Organiser and the Service Provider reserve the right in its sole and absolute discretion to disqualify or exclude any person from the Competition who:

  • is not in line with the theme of the Competition.
  • gives incorrect or incomplete personal information during enrolment and/or in the Competition;
  • breaches the Regulations and Terms and Conditions;
  • engages in any unlawful or other improper misconduct; or
  • the Organiser and the Service Provider reasonably believe to have committed any of the above.


General:

  1. The Organiser and the Service Provider will have the sole and absolute right to cancel, adjourn or change any details including the date and venue of the Competition without prior notice to any parties.
  2. The Organiser and the Service Provider reserve the right to amend, delete, supplement and interpret the Regulations from time to time, and to adjudicate any dispute arising from the Competition. A decision of the Organiser and the Service Provider will be final and binding on all Contestants.
  3. In case of any inconsistency between the English version and Chinese version of these Terms and Conditions, the Chinese version shall prevail.
